We would love to invite you to a very rare opportunity to experience a total solar eclipse from Mazatlan, Mexico, following a weekend of two traditional hikuri ceremonies. The retreat will conclude with watching the eclipse from Las Labradas, a beach and one of the most ancient and magnificent archeological sites, filled with pre-Columbian petroglyphs and considered a truly sacred location.

In various spiritual traditions, a solar eclipse is considered a potent time for transformation, renewal, introspection, deep meditation, and heightened spiritual awareness. The alignment of the sun, moon, and Earth during an eclipse is believed to create a unique energetic portal, intensifying the vibrational frequencies that influence human consciousness.

This invites an energetic reset, amplified intuition, transformation and rebirth, shadow work, the manifestation of intentions, and alignment with cosmic forces.

This event will be combined with 2 nights of ceremony using an ancient cactus medicine from the sacred Wirikuta desert, in Mexico. This powerful medicine purifies the body and the spirit. It regenerates our cells, reboots the immune system, alkalizes the body, countless people reported being healed from serious diseases. This sacred cactus is a means of communication between the physical and spiritual worlds. During this ceremony we are able to connect to our ancestors and receive their guidance as well as heal our family lineage. We dive deep into the heart, our true essence, allowing us to break patterns, heal trauma, depression, anxiety, bringing clarity, focus, and empowering creativity. It connects us to nature and to life itself!

This is a very profound teacher plant yet incredibly gentle on the physical body, great for first-timers.

There will also be a sweat lodge. This is an ancient healing and purification ceremony, the first hospital the ancestors had. The lodge represents the womb of Mother Earth, and the ceremony, a rebirth. Guided by the wisdom of the holy rock people, volcanic rocks are heated by the sacred fire and then water is poured over them, creating pure oxygen and countless benefits for the physical and spiritual bodies. We honor the elements that give us life through songs and prayers.

Our leaders

Matzuwa Oscar comes from the Yoreme people of Sinaloa, Mexico. He has been a pilgrim of Wirikuta desert for over 18 years, learning within the Wixarika tradition, he has taken the sacred oath as a Mara’akame, or spiritual leader.
Matzuwa has undergone various initiations and vision quests which also granted him the fire to run Inipis - sweat lodges.
Matzuwa is an anthropologist specialized in traditional medicine, and a traditional singer and musician.
Matzuwa's passion for culture exchange took him around the world, where he shared and learned from different indigenous communities. Inspired by his experiences, he established the Huya Aniwa Institute, dedicated to implementing sustainable land stewardship practices. Through the institute, Matzuwa continues his mission to honor and protect the Earth's natural heritage while nurturing cultural diversity and traditional knowledge

Vivien, native of Brazil, is a healer, philanthropist, and activist, dedicating her life to her spiritual studies and the preservation of indigenous culture.
Initiated into ancient healing traditions by highly respected elders across the Americas, she took an oath as a Mara’akame, or spiritual leader, under the guidance of the revered late Mara’akame Don Eustolio Rivera de la Cruz, and opened various commitments within the Wixarika tradition and their sacred sites.
Vivien has been on several vision quests and extended diets in the Amazon, where she continues to study under Ashaninka master Benki Piyãko.
Fueled by her reverence for indigenous culture and healing practices, Vivien founded Aniwa, a platform sharing indigenous wisdom online and through an annual gathering. She also founded The Boa Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to indigenous-led initiatives. Vivien expanded her vision with the creation of the Huya Aniwa Foundation and Institute, devoted to preserving sacred lands and native traditions.
